May have ruined it. We'll see how the JB Weld holds up!
I was doing great, hacked it off, sanded, did everything right....
I went to test to make sure everything was straight, I tapped the front piece on with a rubber mallet. But when I went to get it off to epoxy it, it was basically stuck.
I used a long metal rod through the eye and chipped a piece off.

you can see from the pics I tried to show where it broke from.
I'm hoping that since it chipped off so easy, it isn't that big of a deal. I JB welded it back together, I'll reinforce with more jb weld tomorrow.
Any thoughts?
By the way I did it to both sides before I even saw what happened. FML
