SXR Making your own waterbox?

I run the ATP box. I felt a small increase in throttle response with this box. It is definitely loader than a stock box. Sometimes it hits a resonance at a cruising speed that is real annoying. I removed most of the water out of my stock box which weighed in around 10lbs. You will have about 6-8 lbs with going with this box.

Rollin are you overall satisfied with your purchase? Does anyone know the weight of the tdr box? How do these 2 compare?

Overall I am satisfied. The ATP box needs to be designed better to fit the sxr properly. If I were to do it again, I would try the modified stock box first.

not to be a dumb question but couldnt you just get a solid piece of pipe made up to esentially bypass the box. this is if your not worried about sound

Then it wouldn't be a water box and defeats the purpose of having a water box. Waterbox's were made to muffle the sound and prevent water from entering the engine though the exhaust.

If you just ran a straight tube you'd be annoying as F8c%, piss everyone off, and possibly get water back in your engine.

Kinda old thread though yeah?

There is a good amount more that goes into a water box than that. They are designed in different ways for a reason. There are many many books out there on 2 stroke theory
