Blaster 61x differences between single 44 and dual 38 carbs

I'm nearing the end of my B1 build and am looking at carb options. I was planning on a single 44 and am wondering how much performance gain I would get if I went with a dual card setup. I know the 62T cases were designed for the dual carbs and the 61x for single, but would it be worth it to set up a dual on a 61x? My setup now is as follows:

61x cases
stock 701 cylinder and pistons
ADA girdled head 35cc domes
factory limited exhaust
carbon tech reeds
solas mag pump
10/16 hooker prop

What would be the best option for a carb setup?

So, is there a big difference between the bn44 and bn46? It would make sense having a bigger bore carb with the mods. Also, do you have similar mods? and would jetting be about the same as for a 44?

I ran a set of dual 38's on my 61X blaster with a protec manifold. I thought it ran pretty well and did better than the single 44.

I'm always a fan of duals over a single. They will out perform a single any day when properly tuned.

However, tuning a single carb is much easier.

Yah, but how many times do you tune it?

Pulling dual carbs is more of a pain during that tuning process is more what I am trying to say.

Sometimes they come on and off 5 times till its dialed in.

Ok, I hear that. It can be a pain in the ass to keep pulling carbs to change jets. But once you got it dialed, it should be good.

I figured U were breaking my chops on that one.

I agree though once the tuning is done maintenance is the same as a single. Pour gas in the tank and run it!!!

the dual 38's sipped fuel. Almost as good as a single 44.

I was running MSD enhancer, lightened stock flywheel, and pro-tec pipe. Really basic setup but hit well once i put the duallies on there.

ive only had one full 61x engine, but going from a stock 44 to a blackjack 46 was a huge gain in throttle response and overall power and i used the stock intake and reeds

Ya, i was planning on sticking with a single so I got the carbon tech reeds. So, it would probably be best to go with a single 46 or maybe 48. If I were to change to duals, I would have to change to a different intake manifold and reeds right?

This was my fx1 motor, with the 3.8 gal tank I could run up an down the river for about an hour. The stroker with the BJ's will drink 2.1 gallons in about 15-20 min.lol

No, on the 61x motor you just change the top plate of the intake manifold to go from single to dual carb.

It is a two piece design with the reeds on the bottom plate.

Just a different manifold
