If you have any interest in chasing boats I would go with the rickter, however that will take some money away from your motor budget.

If you are strictly flatwater freestyle and want to flatwater flip then get the BOB, no questions asked.

im not wanting to go comp style
i want to be able to flat water flip but also just run around the lake with my buddies
im looking at a rickter 760 or a bob 864 so far

Rickter is a great boat built like a tank you can beat on it and it will still be there. they are on the heavy side as far as aftermarket hulls go but like I said you can hammer the things.

BOBs I haven't rode one but I have seen like 3 Gen1s and 1 Gen2 in person. Can't say they are a nice ski but they sure are selling.
one of our guys has a Gen2 showing up soon. Once I get some good water time on the thing I can compare it to my FR2

I've seen the opposite with Ricketts. I've seen em get beat up and crack pretty easily. You shouldn't have to reinforce a 6500 dollar ski out of the box...

Keep in mind, we've only been building hulls for 2 years. We designed the Gen2 to do what its supposed to do - freestyle. We promote a product that works, the looks are just a bonus. They may not be the prettiest things out there, but each unit we build is better than the last. I've attached a couple pictures from the last couple hulls we've built.

In a sense, you're comparing an aftermarket Super Jet to something totally different, and about a foot shorter too. They both have their purposes and their uses, it all depends on what you want to do with it. The Gen2 is a good surf hull, many people use it in both surf and flat water.

One of our guys uses his 701 Gen2 in both Surf & Flat Water, and he's doing flips in both, and his skis still holding up just fine. I don't know of any FS-2's that do that either.

If I had your budget and wanted the best of both worlds I would take a good look at superfreaks with a 760 type motor . I've ridden quite a few rickters and love them in the surf but IMO you won't be flipping it flat water even on a 865 type set up . Never ridden bob but it's very small and while I'm sure you can rec ride on it think it will be hard work ( not having a go a bob just sayin not what is was built for )

I don't own any of these hulls or have anything to promote but from riding freaks rickters that's what I would do

We ride only ours BOB on lake and we are always chasing boat. You can do what you want with a BOB. But the finish of a new BOB is not the finish of a new rickter.
