It had been almost 10 years since I had been to the World Finals. I decided this year that I had been away for too long and called my friend Bibby Biggs up to see if he wanted to check it out.
It was really great seeing some old friend and familiar faces. I couldn't believe the changes in the boats (4 strokes on the water??!!!) and Freestyle was simply off the hook.
Saturday night we attended the IJSBA 25 year Hall of Fame awards banquet.
The legends and pioneers of the sport were amassed into one room. It was really cool to see some of the original freestylists who were an inspiration to me!
Freestylists were well represented in the 25 who were inducted. Steve Stricklin, Doug Silverstein, Brian Bendix, Larry Rippenkroeger, Scott Watkins, and Rick Roy, and a host of others were assembled on one stage.
It was very cool!
