Dyno numbers really don't matter unless you are on the same dyno under the same conditions. It's just a tuning tool. It might as well be scaled from A to Z.

I just don't understand why you guys get so hung up on numbers. I say no builder needs to post numbers unless he wants to, but knowing the guys on this forum, that would be a really bad idea. I see where no good could come of it.

Now if someone wants to buy a dyno so he can test and tune different setups and to learn how certain modifications effect performance, I say more power to them.

I couldn't care less what the number is that my big motor cranks out.

I can tell you this though: I put a single carb 61X in my fixed steer and it is damn weak in the power department compared to my ss865. That's all I need to know. Horsepower numbers really mean nothing to me.

well as long as the dyno has been callibrated with every other dyno in the world , and uses the benchmark of 72hp that came from a oem 62t superjet motor, then made sure that every motor coming out of the shop was dyno tuned before being put in the box.....and i still don't give a crap. what i do care about is that when I get on the ski with a nice big motor, i crap my pants, if 200hp makes me crap or its 134hp, i don't care, i just want new shorts. nothing is going to hit the fan because most people don't give a chit about the numbers. As long as they have one of the biggest displacement motors, they know they have the highest hp outputing motors in the "sport" do you guys really care if one motor reads 8hp more than the other. I seen an episode a few years back, The vw gti has less power than the awd subaru wrx and yet it has better track times.

Well said young man!!!

Now WTF are you trying to say here???

Kenny and I have sworn each other to secrecy. The world will see soon enough. All I can say now is that the sport will forever be revolutionized!

Forever revolutionized ??? Kenny and gil, Great to see you guys so excited. Are peeps really spending that much time or care that much about The #'s.

Horse power is just a # Right ??? When you are inverted at 15 feet I am not thinking about the #'s. I am glad you guys have the POWER to change the sport so dramatically. Give to em guys, I have yard work to do.

HP simply isn't a meaningful number for a jetski, and here's why: HP is calculated by multiplying RPM with the torque a motor produces at that RPM (times a constant factor).
What's that mean?
It means that the HP numbers you see advertised for any motor are always going to be near the redline of the motor, at high RPM. That's useless for a standup motor.
We use power at the low and mid RPM's, not in the 7000's.
The stock SJ motor might have 73HP at 6000RPM. Who rides there????
At usable RPMs it probably has 20-35HP.

The big & strung up motors? The claimed 101HP motor from the FPP graph in the last thread had about 50HP at 5000 RPM and even less down low.

A motor with a transmission attached to it can operate inside a fairly narrow RPM band to be near peak RPM. Direct drive jetski, not so much. Because of that, our power curves are much wider than they are for other motors. And that also gives up peak HP.

i am getting a dyno tuned decal for my ski. I did shart myself at work once, I was not into it at all and i had to drive a 1976 GMC single axle tractor back to my house to shower and change. What a bumpy smelly ride that was.

I thought that was the joke about the whole DYNO the jet ski idea.

Spoken with native american accent: ME ONE HORSE, RUN FAST, JUMP FAR, JUMP HIGH.

It's not so much what the #'s are, it's putting an end to these completely ridiculous claims of 200HP twins. It's far from true.

It might close that conversation, but it will open up how many more? There is no shortage of people on here or any other forum that have nothing better to do but to voice their opinion about things that just don't matter.....myself included.

you pretty much couldnt of made anymore sense, also think of how a jetski puts the power down, a prop let alone a jetdrive is one of the most inefficent things

Have you considered counseling? How is the weather there? Maybe a warm glass of milk? Is the grass still green? Do you need a hug?

lol, everyone else needs counseling imo, The weather up hear in southern ontario has been wonderful, the grass is still green but is no longer growing which is nice. the leaves on the trees are all gone too and blown away. I often wonder where the wind came from and where it is going with all the leaves. we have been preparing for winter and am ready for some snow. I got the winter beater on the road and started hacking up my ski again! I know! is there any smc left to even cut? I like cold chocolate milk for the most part but I could use an embrace.
