:stooges: So i'm too poor to have any experience in this area. ( i had a 6 vein mag pump on a kawi and it made a noticeable difference.) Mag seems to be the most popular choice, but what about the Solas pro pumps?? i know they're heavier but there a fraction of the cost. any one have the experience or some "tried and true" knowledge they lend me?? I'm sure there are a few members out there who will love to hear what everyone has to say about this.

I think solas option is the cheapest for non-set back. If you want set back pm jetmaniac he have skat trak at a fair price. And you cant go wrong with maxx, pump is 1 years warranty and i can told you by experience that maxx is really a honest dude to deal with.

For a Kawi or a Yamaha? I have personal experience with the Solas 12 Vane Kawi pump in SXR's. It is a really nice pump and includes the reduction/steering/drop nozzle (you just have to add a trim lever and cable). I might be able to hook up a nice deal on one too........................

I'm currently building a flat water superjet. I am on a budget so Solas has really caught my eye. however i am trying to reduce weight as much as possible. only 4 lbs but it adds up quick.

I bougth one from maxx and one from Jetmaniac. Both ar great guys, but the pump from jetmaniac is complette witn new bearings, seals, fittings and prop. The maxpump is case and shaft only and you have to build it. In germany is it a problem.......not rigth treats on fittings, no props.

Thanks, Andy

HMMM, for flatwater I would avoid Solas as they are heavy! Max or Skat. Skat is a little better quality but that comes with a little added cost. State side vendors are an advantage though. Maxx requires no trade in so really either way is equal IMO unless someone has one in stock for you in the states Skat wise and you want it quick.

Is the new Solas cast 144mm pump heavier than the Maxx billet stainless 144 setback? And how much heavier is the old Solas 140 pump vs. the Skat 140?

I'd like to hear some reviews on the new Solas pump. How well they perform, or don't perform is my concern... not 4lbs.
4 lbs at the lowest portion of your ski isn't going to make a difference IMO. If you were on a full carbon hull, carbon pole, carbon waterbox, etc.... then it may be worth the extra $$ for a lighter pump if performance is similar between the two.

I'm in the market for my first Mag pump this winter as well. Trying to learn as I go.

bump.. id also like some feedback..
Im building a BOB.. with an 889cc stoker..
trying to keep it somewhat light.. goal is 270 or so...
Id like less, hood and pole is 71 lbs.

Deciding between the Solas Pump and the TBM pump cone.

I just got my Solas in the mail today. As far as I know I was one of the ten recipients of the first wave. As it's snowing out here its a little cold for a test ride. Hopefully someone in a warmer climate maybe able to pitch in. Also, a review other than "wow so much more power" would be almost useless because I have not compared side by side.

Someone in this thread said they were cast when infact the solos are full stainless. If you want to go spend $1500 on a Skat Set back go head, if you want to save a dollar or two or 1,000 then theres no other way to go than the Solas. The asking price was $485 shipped.

For those of you that debate the whole four pound thing as being heavy... First it's heavier because it's full stainless which is going to last longer and 4 pounds really is not going to prevent you from backflipping or something alike. Use the bathroom before you ride, theres your four pounds.

Did you get the adapter ring with it?
The Solas is cast stainless, correct?
