Drop Down - - Couch Rider Style

i've seen a few of the drop gut posts and it got me thinking...... even though everyone either recognizes as dan from the north or the "fat kid" i'd rather drop the fat kid nickname.

Some of you guys are doing it for competition reasons. i am doing it for both competition and health reasons.

Starting Now until daytona i will post updates every 3 days as to my progress

October 9th
5'10"
285 Lbs.

Accordingly to a few sites i am 80 pounds overweight. my goal is to atleast cut that in half and be somewhere around 240 or less by the time daytona rolls around.... for those of you counting thats a little over 3 months away or roughly 14 weeks i believe.

my goal is 3-4 lbs a week

go for it man! long story short, i was in a motorcycle accident in jan 2006 and fractured my back and other minor injuries, it laid me up for almost four months. well i ended up gaining 30lbs. i'm 5'9" and i weighed 185. since i got the clean bill from the doc, i've gone back to the gym, and started eating better, funny thing is i have'nt dropped so much weight as i have body fat. i'm down to 175 now but i've built muscle too. thursday was the first time i was able to ride a jetski since my accident. man, i was sore as hell but it felt soooo good. can't wait to get out and ride again!! all i can say is don't get dicouraged and stick with it:cheer: :cheer:

uh oh! We may have one more Edit Freestyler after you hit your goal!
Awsome man! Ill always be there for you whenever you need someone to eat the tasty stuff for ya!

well i sold my sxr dan, so you have to loose some to fit in the sj footwell. man that thing is even tight for my skinny ass legs.

i am gonna loose some with you. since i have been getting older i have lost some muscle and replaced it with fat. so i am trying to get down a few myself. incidentally i want to go to the daytona ride as well, no racing until may:frown: . all i can do is fly high, but i am willing to learn a few new tricks:rolleyes:

Dude, I'm 20lbs overweigth and in the worst shape of my life at the moment...
Here's how it happened and why I don't ride stand-ups anymore (can change in the future) and pretty much stopped jumping waves on a couch:
1. Two years ago I was 37yo, 6'00'', 180lbs. Bad right medial meniscus pending surgery for 20 years. Was riding with a brace on my right knee.
2. Torn the left medial meniscus on Aug 10, 2004 riding 6-8 foot rough for a few hours.
3. Had a surgery on Aug 20, 2004.
4. The recovery did not go well and still not finished. The pain was untolerarable, I was taking huge doses of Percosett for over two months (it's addictive after one week) while being on a short term disability. Lost 10 lbs of muscle mass.
5. Stopped taking the Percosett (pretty bad experience getting off that stuff for about a week), got back to work. Winter. No riding. No time to excersise either.
6. The company I worked for went down under. Opened my own company. No time to excersise or ride. Lost a season, gained 30 lbs of fat.
7. My own company went down.
8. Got a new job. 92 miles daily commute, long hours. No time to excersise or ride. Recovered some of the muscle mass, still have at least 20 lbs of fat to lose.

So, today I'm 200 lbs and my goal for now is to get back to about 180 and I have no idea how to do that.

Awesome attitude, and 3-4/week is a perfect goal that is achievable, but also a little aggressive too.

Keep it up, stay away from soda and drink plenty of water.

Hey Dan,
Where are you at on this? Time for a weigh in. Stick with it. It'll be hard, but it's the right thing to do for your health and for your riding ability.
