Freestyle Need opinions/advice on lightweight hull

Been thinking about selling my 09 ktm 250sxf with 9 hours on it and getting a lightweight hull and maybe selling my SJ assembled and building one Bad A** lightweight. I haven't decided which one thinking Q8 or Freak, probably freak.

I currently live in MI and only ride flat water, unless we get some high winds on lake michigan. I plan on moving back to FL in 2013 but how knows what will happen by then. So part of me thinks i should keep the SJ for surf.

So my big question is Should I sell the SJ and bike to build a lightweight (and would it be ok in the surf down south), or should i just keep what I have? or sell the bike buy a hull and keep my sj and just switch over parts? (cheap route)

sell bike and hull,buy am hull and swap parts over. i started from scratch and its way more than i ever thought i would put into it. but i didnt want to skimp on anything and i didnt. if you start from scratch take that estimated price and double it!

another option i was thinking that avoid me spending anything out of pocket is. Sell the bike and get more power in my SJ.

Just my opinion on that last option you just mentioned: in my experience it's more fun to have a lighter hull with a (relatively) weaker motor than a stock SJ hull with a stronger motor.

My foot kept me off the water most of the summer. I went for my first "real" surf ride of the season a week and a half ago. The waves were overhead + and I loved the freak! I have never landed re-entrys that far in front of the white water before. GET A FREAK and just switch your parts over from you SJ. As you have money build up the power from there.

Thats what I thought everyone would say. I am trying to buy a house at the moment so might have to wait and see if I can afford the freak in a few months. But if there was overhead surf in GR, why didn't I get a PM? I am always ready to ride!

True, but I know I am gonna be selling the bike. Since its a 09 that I bought left over in Feb. and only put 9 hours on it this season.
It will be a couple months late winter/early spring (season is almost over in MI) before I purchase any ski hulls or parts, but I like to get y'alls opinions so I can make future plans and better educate myself you know? And so far you guys have confirmed what I thought would be best.

But your right the house is certainly priority at the moment.

Cause paying rent sucks. And the area the fiancé and I are looking should have a good turn around. It has a good turn around now. Also I have the VA loan with gaureteed down payment.

I think buying a good handling, quality lightweight hull and swapping your existing components in is the best bet. (That's what I did and I'm happy)

So Moral of this thread is lightweight with less power is better then stock hull with lots of power. Now that I think about it when I was big into mx I loved riding 125s over 250s. Not as powerful but lighter and easier to throw around and pit em where u want. So hopefully i will be able to puchase a lightweight in the future.

Get a second mortgage on the house you are buying and buy a stunt hull and a waterdawg motor.

Same page here . Keep your eyes open on here and you can find something in your price range do a swap sell tha stock hull.

I say go with option 3. Sell the bike and buy something pink for Michelle to ride. That way she is more likely to let you stay with her in the new house you intend to buy her. :biggrin:

Go with the SF like everyone else said. Even the glass versions are crazy light and it will suit both flatwater and surf better than anything else available.
