Is this free ride dead?

So with last years ride being the smallest turn out yet, and most of the springfield crew and SWMS not showing, and just the fact that our forum section still says "2010 Ozark Jetski Invasion" and not 2011, and that our latest ride date is still set for June 28th of 2009, is this ride dead or does this forum just not recognize us as existing?? Not a total dis on this site, but would just like a little more upkeep on this forum section if we plan on doing this ride again.

If you want stuff updated, pm a mod/admin about it. We don't know what rides happen when and where - we'll gladly update stuff, but you gotta let us know.

I ride at LOTO all the time. The "Invasion" just gets to be less and less every year. We will have to see what its like next year. No one wants to travel or they are "scared" of the big ecoli crap ot LOTO. Maybe if it wasn't right at party cove where they say all the polluted water is we might get a better turn out. But I understand thats where all the big boats are. I have a great time hanging out with everyone, just would like to see a turn out like when I first went. Also I would like to see TRL put something on-"hint hint".

We would love to put something on that the whole family and beginners could all come too and still have our wavemakers ready for aerial attacks!! But last year our lake was 20' over lake stage and just about all of our campgrounds were under water, we keep talking about trying to get everybody to come down but our campgrounds are all book up for the season by March and we keep trying to find a resort that would accommodate everybody.
As for coming up and riding with you guys we would be glad to come up and ride, but certain people don't seem to understand that the ramp area that the invasion is at is not user friendly with not much good shoreline and waves always pounding the skis off of their stands ( and yes it's a ride but you still have to eat lunch and fill up your tank) and so much traffic that you fear for anybody that falls out in the middle chasing waves or just crossing the lake. I get it that some of you just want to jump waves, but a freeride should be about having everybody ride together and learn how to do something new and be rider friendly for experienced and novice! Ejake said there is better places up there we could meet at and still ride out and hit the big wavemakers and have a good place to hang out. So guys if it would work out for a new place we will come and ride and get to know everybody so we can make this into a great ride with great people! Thanks Tony

Thanks Tony, I agree....the current spot might be great for big waves and cruisers wakes, but it's just too chaotic to be riding out there for long, not to mention the wakes crashing and knocking the boats off their stands. We'll see about this year, maybe I can put some R&D into finding us a better location. Let's us this as a place to post possible new spots (if they have links).

It's been a minute since I've been past party cove but I do remember a beach that's between pb1 (that where everyone camps) and party cove. If that's the case we could have it their and ride around the corner to the back side of party cove and still have nice water for thoes who haven't enrolled in a life insurance plan. Lol. I'll talk with some of my friends i ride with who are locals and know the area.

yeah we went two years ago and it was too crazy for us to ride there.

rons at the 34mm has camping, a beach,a boat ramp and food all in one spot.

and there is a enough big boat traffic for anyone that wants to wake jump.

if you all want to do something there i can help make it happen.

If your still swimming with your water wings back in a long no wake zone then yeah I guess it might throw up a caution. But since were not riding in that cove there's not much of that to worry about. Every body of water and river has it's own issues. There are other places at the lake that would make a nice spot for everyone to enjoy.

I would like to see a large ride come together.Just to be able to get everyone together and meet, greet, eat, and ride. Whether it be at LOTO in little better local, or at TRL.
As Tony stated above, we had seriously considered trying to get one together this year down here at TRL, however the flooding situation ruined it big time with any where to camp. I think two rides are definitely feesable to do. As some live farther from one lake or the other, and with one at each lake it would give everyone a chance to get to atleast one. Hopefully this upcoming season we can get all this hammered out, and get things "ROLLING"!! :)

Drinking ecoli water has a lot to do with it.

Mark44

I think you've popped a button on your skirt there Mark.

Been down there for nearly 50 years. Haven't died from the water yet. Let it go please :)

I love the big waves. If we can get a place that meets with everyones needs (including bacteria-filtering snorkel units), and maintains the fun riding aspect (waves), I am in for sure.

As far as the 'bad parking' situation goes, maybe we can think up some ideas for some cheap 'multi-boat' racks to build and have for the rides?

The 34 is a nice part of the lake. As always.... I'll ride anywhere. beach stands are for SJs.. ecoli is a non issue, IMHO.
