Super Jet Help with selection of impeller

Dear All,
Please advice on the following.

I have a 2006 Yamaha SuperJet 701, with little modification on the carb only. I would like to select a better impeller and I plan also to do it together with an intake gate and may be a riding plate, but not further than that... or at least by now:splatt:

As far as I know the original Yamaha impeller I have now is alloy 13/16 .. which of the following would you advice me:

Option 1

16.5 impeller from JetSport US

see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMA...0047035993&_trksid=p5197.m7&item=150655705319

Option 2

Solas, Concord series impeller YB-CD-13/17

Option 3

Solas, IJK Series series impeller YB-SC-J(14.7-18.5)

see Solas catalog http://www.solas.com/newweb/pwcproduct/search/brand.asp?FkindNo=F24&SwType=1
see Solas series description http://www.solas.com/newweb/pwcproduct/products/sst_series.asp

Thank you in advance !

It really depends what you are trying to do, are you trying to do freestyle? If so then a Impros 9/15 would be ideal for the low end.

Most guys would say go with a Worx 201 intake grate. They are pretty pricey, around $180. Other intake grates such as R & D are great options too!

Again, with the ride plate it depends what you are trying to do, longer for more racing carving applications, while a shorter ride plate would be better for freeride/freestyle.

Hope this helps, I am sure other with chime in too!

Thanks for the reply.. basically I would like to get more response.. I am riding 70% in sea and 30 % at lakeside..so it should be more freeride ..? right .? I enjoy jumping and I notice that after a jump a have a slow response, it wont pull me out that fast....so at the end its not so much about top speed, but about response..if this is the right word to use..maybe acceleration..

Cheers !

Option #2 is close to correct. Option#1 is junk and #3 is too much load.

Hooker 9/15 and be done with it!

What is the idea of going down to 9/15, from stock 13/16 .Please explain... From what I have understood, I should increase the pitch 1 up, when modifying little and 2 to 2.5 when modifying significantly.. thus, I should go maybe from 13/16 to 13/17.. ???

It sounds like you have it all figured out. Are you sure?

Pitch numbers are useful only when comparing impellers of the same brand and same model.
There are other variables - hub diameter, blade surface area, etc.

A 9/15 hooker does not put the same load on the engine as a 9/15 Skat Slimline.

The acceleration and punch you are looking for would be provided by a 9/15 hooker. Pitch and impellers are hard to explain. Just go with what works and is proven and don't fight it. For you set up a 9/15 would be perfect. That means when you gun it, your gonna pop right out of the water with that "acceleration" that you are looking for.

Dave at impros is a great resource when your trying to find the best impeller for you application though it has been proven time and time again.

Jet Maniac is a great guy to start dealing with. He has a good price on the hooker and has a good price on every and anything else you could possible need when it comes to your ski.

..OK !! Guys.. you got me convinced.. Let it be Impros 9 15..setback..

Now comes the next question.. what plate and intake ...??

Enjoy your weekend !!

I think the worst prop I have ever used was a 9/15. I got stuck in the white wash and was WOT and didn't move an inch. Prop is too steep. Its only good for flatwater.
