Super Jet diy glass sj chamber

so i have made a few surfboards and have about half a gallon of good solerez clear polyresin sitting in a cabinet going to waste. I had a few last night and it hit me what if i made my own glass, totally clear ltd chamber. The way i see it is, aside from it just looking hilarious if i could pull this off but, if i take a simple cast of my sj chamber then cut along the horizontal plan, because of its simitry, i could lay up one layer in each half of the mold then after curing, pull the halfs out and finish my full layup making it twice as thick to keep it strong i should have a somewhat see through chamber. I would use like an s weave or something along those lines to get good flexibility but what do you guys think? i know theres someone else out there. a build thread will be on its way regardless. Also with the uv cure resin your gel time is about 30sec once its exposed to UV with a 3min cure. its fun stuff. glass in the garage open the door wheel out side 3 mins your set. black lights work too

haha yamalube my brother pointed that fact out to me earlier this evening when i remembered my idea, would still be interesting. if i can keep the inside real smooth polish up my two casts before glassing the rest of the way it might keep the build up away, how about heat tolerence tho? like the 500 dollar blowsion carbon chamber, is that poly or epoxy or what?

I just wanna see what the exhaust looks like, or the pattern it leaves on the inside of the chamber anyways.

I have a blue carbon chamber in my wife's ski and love it. It was made by Crammit and uses a special resin to withstand the heat. I think it was HBC Industries that sells one as well and they just mentioned the type fo resin used in their sales thread.

On some of my proto carbon pipes 3 yrs ago i was using DERAKANE 411-350 Epoxy Vinyl Ester Resin. This worked well with no breakdown. I have
moved on to more superior full epox resin with even higher heat range, hence the baking process that activates the crystals once cured. Crammit used
the 411-350 on your pipe OCD solutions. The first pipe i made is still alive 3 1/2 yrs later, some guy in Rome has it now.

helpful, im still just gonna use what i have to see what happens but yeah that was my thought, just to see what it looks like, how the water runs, how the carbon lays down in the pipe. if i get it to actuality i will do my best to film it in real time and with as high quality slow motion as possible that way i will atleast have a great slow mo failure

The 411-350 is not clear for see threw perposes. At least you will have to use a hybrid resin, epoxy being prime. Poly has fast cure times
and shrinkage due to this. Poly resin has its place but not for this, (exhaust chambers). Epoxy has slower dry and reaction times
and will alow the part to relaxe during cure. In return you will get a more precise part as well as stronger. You can get clear
epoxy resin for carbon, I highly recomend you go this route vs poly. I also have tryed the see through look...it will stay like that for min
then fogged, then yellowing will begin days later. Hope this helps and this project will lead into others as it did for me
atleast,,My version of this chamber is one of the first things I built that got me into all im doing.
