A Primer is good to start a sunk ski or to help you get a ski started while you are tuning. Once a ski is tuned, the primer is not really necessary.
that being said, both my skis have primers. But they are there incase I sink the motor.
I`ve just installed a bulb style primer in my superjet, I ran it from the "in" line. The problem im having is that it wont pull any fuel from the line when pumped, I was wondering if maybe the bulb is not big enough to prime the carbs, Would I be better off with a plunger style pump or have i put the T fitting in wrong position?? Any feedback would be appreciated. First time installing one!

X2. I use my prime on very rare occasions.
bulb primers don't have as much suction power as the plunger types. If you just put your system together and there is no fuel in the line or filter, you may need to pressurize your tank somewhat to bring up the fuel. After that your bulb primer should work. (hopefully)
that being said, does your main line to the carbs drain back in the tank? not within minutes but if mine sits over night, that first start the next day takes a sec to fill the line back up.
Nope. Mine can sit for two weeks and it'll still start first try, no primer.
