Super Jet Why is starter turning but engine not cranking?

At the river ski was running fine then one time went to start it and starter was just spinning but engine not cranking. Thought it was the starter so I had that rebuilt. Put the starter back in a same thing starter is spinning but motors not engaging.

Your bendix gear probably needs to be replaced. It sits between the starter and flywheel. To get to it, you'll need to remove the flywheel cover and the flywheel.

take off the front cover and pull the flywheel, then the bendix can be removed...buy a new or used oem one only ! no aftermarket...Jetmaniac sells good used oem ones....

You may have to remove the gas tank to make room for the flywheel puller tool.

also you can try soaking the bendix for 24 hrs in ATF transmission fluid, it might get it going again...

harmonic balancer puller has the exact size bolts and does the trick. i use a impact to remove the flywheel bolt then turn the impact down to low setting and hand tighten the balancer puller on and then allow the impact to just tap the main bolt a little at a time then the flywheel comes off. SIDE NOTE. do not put the 3 screws into the flywheel to much. there is a very key electrical component behind the flywheel that you will hit if the 3 anchor bolts are screwed in to much.

this happened to me and i got a new bendix and i still soaked it in atf before installing.

ao i shouldn't just use my impact gun to pull the flywheel?

you can use an impact to pull the flywheel. it will come right off
