Riva 7 Port Cylinder?

What do you guys know about about Riva 7 port cylinders? I just picked one up and would like to know more about it "performance gains, max bore etc" I cant seem to find anything on the web.

I will post pictures of it in a few.

Let's see the casting. I can tell you what vintage it is. If it has Riva cast into it, it is likely 15 years old.

Definitely a Lamey, branded Protec, Riva, R&D and others.

Depending on the casting, mid 80's bore.

Performance gains, with the right set up, how well are you able to hang on?

What else would you like to know?

Parts and support are available for those cylinders from Racers Edge, who is "Lamey" and is now called DASA. But still maintains all related monikers.

The bore is at 82.00 Im going to sand blast and paint it this weekend. It's getting msd total loss, new pro x pistons, ada head, new crank, v force reeds, b pipe and either dual 48's or my oem 44's. Its going in my light weight wammer hull. Ultimately my goal is to be able to do flat water backy's. Possible? I sure hope so.

Or even better, have the entire cylinder timecerted. I had one of my Lamey's done and is has been pretty much bulletproof since. That is a Lamey old style cylinder with riva stampings. WIth total loss and the right porting/pipe/intake, it will make great power.

First gen casting for sure, that girl is an oldie but still a goodie.

As it has been said, have the porting checked out to make sure what is is set up for.

Have you measured the overall height yet to know what stroke/rod/piston combination it is for?

Timeserts aren't always necessary and less necessary when studs are used.

YOU DO NOT NEED A GIRDLE/HALF GIRDLE/QUARTER GIRDLE HEAD WITH THIS CYLINDER.

DASA now sells a head for the stock bolt pattern cylinder.

82 bore is tiny, that girl should be able to go out to 85.

Im not sure lamey did one for protec, i thought protec did there own cylinder.
I have one of those as well just snagged it off ebay for $50.
If your at 82mm then you may find you have the small bore sleeves. if this is the case then you are at the max bore this cylinder can hold.
lamey no longer does the small bore sleeves and you will have to go for the bigger sleeves.
This requires you to bore the cylinder to fit the bigger sleeve but its a good capacity upgrade.
The porting in these is a huge increase in power potential over a 61x cylinder.
They are high in port timing but you can get around this with a decent ignition and some compression. translation - it will fly set up right

all the above are true, those had pretty high ports but ran good with about 225 comp.
I have not seen one of these in years, just hope it is a TJ ported cylinder as he did the best porting for Riva back in the day.
Timecerts are a must in the old casted AM cylinders as the casting quality was not as good as OEM.
