Took about 3 days to complete glassing and gluing but I took it super slow because I wanted it to be perfect. I hate when people cheap out and jimmy holds into their $3,000 ski.

Wasted tons of epoxy because I used pumps to measure out my resin and often did not use it all. I have several hardened cans in my garage now haha. I just wanted to make sure I had the right 3:1 mix.

The ice worked really well, the epoxy still hardened and it bought me just a little extra time to finish the foothold. Near the end I felt the glue getting thick even on ice however. I cut a milk jug in half, filled it with ice and sat my old empty bean can full of resin to use.


What should the fiberglass feel like when dry? I never felt freshly worked glass before.

Thanks for the pictures.... why are my holds greenish? Looks like you have tons of glass.... surf ski strong I guess.

I had a friend ask me about some measurements on these holds. These are TOBY's second gen footholds?!?!? Correct me if I am wrong Toby.

Heres an FYI to all future potential customers and installers. I know I was wondering this stuff before the install. Just some rough measurements.

With the cloth you are using you should be able to skin your knuckles on it! If you use a lot of excess resin then it will be smooth and glassy, because all you are feeling is resin. If you didn't wet the cloth properly then it will feel soft like it did before you layed it up. If you got it just about right then the cloth will be very hard, but with no glassy resin excess - very rough to the touch. That's great, because it's the perfect surface to get your contact adhesive to bond to when you turf.

Sweeet thats what I got.... seems very rough and hard. No glossy spots!

I can most definitely skin my knuckles on it! Turf is never going to come up....

next time you get some pesky bubbles, use a peice of plastic like from a sandwich bag to cover the area until the epoxy is fully cured. ghetto bagg but hey it works great! nice work, stop spending so much time and effort tho, its just fiberglass haha
