SX/SXi/SXi Pro Making D-cut in stock ride plate. How and were do i do it?

This is mine, might be a little big but I love it. I still use the R&D for rough days or if I feel like carving.

can you do me a favor and mesure from the end of the rideplate to the tip of the round (CENTER) . I would like to make it exactly like yours . and how much is on the sides? It looks like you started at 1 inch , each side. I took the pro out twice today , both for an hour non stop. I cant beleive how this thing carves.

Im going out of town tonight till friday but I think it was 3"-3 1/2" deep. Just a fyi, it will slide out in corners easily after you cut it and the nose will ride a lot highier. great for freestyle but sucks for handling. I found if you adjust your riding style to it its not a big deal.

cut those ears off IMHO!
looks like a way to get skewered when re-boarding the ski in rough water
cut plate flush with back of ski
then use a 3 1/2 hole saw to make the D

i am into my 3rd season of learning to ride my stock 2001 sxipro 750. starting to think about doing some tinkering. totally see the need for foot holds but am afraid to rip into my hull. would like more stability when carving turns on a calm lake. sxipro02 wrote about using the r&d plate when he wants to carve. Which brings me to my question. Would replacing my stock ride plate give me more stability when trying to carve turns on a calm lake, and is this r&d plate pictured above what i should find?

What i was told , is the extended ride plate from R&D works the best for the sxi pro. Im looking into one now. Ive owned 550s , sx650 , 91 superjet, and now an sxi pro . Bye far the pro is the best carving and an easy ski to ride . My 98 is all stock except for my scoop grate , it a R&D double top loader. It makes a huge diffrence in keeping the pump full of water.

Those ears are not sticking out in a dangerous spot, I would not suggest cutting them off, The plate would be way to short if you cut it flush and then another 3 1/2 for the d-cut. you would have not stability and it would probably break off easily on re-entry

750sxi, if you want it to carve better slap some tubbie 2's and hull extensions on there with the R&D plate. I watched several good riders roll over the top of mine when I had it set up like that. It was insane how good it hooked in corners. I cut my extensions down to 2" now and like it better

sxiproo2 , can you post a pic of the R&D ride plate you have. THanks

the pic I posted earlier shows how much longer it is, they are stacked flush in the picture. make sure you get a plate for a sxi pro if you buy one, they are different than the sx ones

BTW I cant remember but I think my stock plate is flush with the back of the ski, I gotta double check when I get back in town friday.

sxipro is the d cut plate you have different than the stock SX plate? I have a 93 SX 750 and the plate i have looks just like yours with out the extended piece that you have the D cut in. My plate goes straigh accross at the 90 degree angles after the rear bolts. Looking to buy another stock plate to D cut and found one on ebay that looks like yours and I just want to make sure it will fit my 93.

Ok, thank you. I bought it anyway and if all I have to do is drill new holes thats fine. Im new to this whole scene. I bought what the vin says is a 93 but it looks just like an sxi and it has dual carbs on it. It may just be an sx with sxi carbs. I'll see if they ride plate fits or not when it gets here. Does your plate fit flush with the back when mounted or does it stick out past the back of the ski? Maybe my plate was flush cut by the previous owner? I feel stupid when admitting this but I D cut the wrong end of my plate when I had the whole ski apart. I had it striped to bare hull during my build and my measure twice cut once brain was obscured by beer. I didn't even hold it up to the ski before cutting it. Oh well.
