SX/SXi/SXi Pro Do's and dont's

I just picked up a 1992 750sx last weekend. Its pretty much stock besides scope grate and a couple other mis items. This is my first stand up, can you guys help with the do's and dont's? I helped Mademan9 build 2 of his superjets basically from stratch, but Kawi's are new to me. I went ahead a stripped the whole hull to clean and paint. This will be a budget build, so I would like to keep it simple. The first thing im doing is footholds.

Thanks for the help.

After learking for a few weeks I have read a bunch of post, about different mods and what like to get you guys opinion on some things.

-I decided im getting footholds for sure
- Is it a good idea to get rid of the waterbox? I dont mind the noise, just want to make sure I dont lose any power from deleting it.
- I noticed after gutting the hull there is 2 small pc of ss plate glued to the right front side of my hull. Whats the purpose of it? And can I just get rid of that too?
-I plan on doing some lightly modding to motor on a later date. Im just focusing on the hull right now.
- What is the hole in the middle of the hood for?
- After helping my buddy build his 2 superjets, I noticed he always tapped for dual cooling. Should I do the same for my kawi? Even with a stock head?
Im sure I have more question, this is all new to me
Thanks for the help guys

on kawis you can take out the pump and upgrade the water feed fitting to 1/2 and do the same on the exhaust manifold to get better water flow, also drill and tap the head for a second water outlet.
as for the waterbox, I just switched from a factory mod pipe (no water box) to a factory limited pipe and got a huge power increase. I highly suggest you look for a limited pipe. Its worth the extra money. you get very little gain in deleting it, just a LOT more noise.
Take those SS plates out, their just ballance weights
