i just bought a 85 550 for 100 bucks, kid couldnt get it to run. I noticed that all the wires coming out of bottom of the motor were cut. Does anyone have a diagram of the wiring?

the wire colors on the stator will match the wires in the ebox if the stator and ebox are from the same year. All you need to do is match up the colors. there should be a red, black, grey and two greens. the two greens don't have to be hooked up for it to run. they are for the charging system and it doesn't matter what green you connect them two in the ebox

yeah just like he said....just remove the two bolts on front of e-box and pull out white connector and just match up the wires....hopefully you have the other end of the connector coming from the stator pate in motor that way you can just splice wires together and seal them up good and just plug in connector......make sure and make Good connections and use shrink wrap......it can ruin your day if the connections get corrosion in them or come apart
