you can still make one without cutting anything. Just make a jumper using either female or male spade connectors, (Cannot remember which is on which side) Put the jumper on. Then you could use some tape to help secure it. Personally I prefer the timing plates. You could install this and then remove it if you had to take it back in for warranty.

Haha. I just bought an 04 SXR, and I havnt even ridden it yet (still winter). So other than time, what's the downside. Kawasaki made it stock like it is for a reason. If it was just as easy to do this timing advance, and doesn't cost anything, why didn't it come like this from the factory?

You are running more static advance. This is going to be a little more heat. Hence you run 91 octane or greater. Kawasaki builds the skis ro be reliable. This mod does not make it any less reliable. There is always room for improvement
