Super Jet thinking about swapping cylinders with my uncle

he has a 61x 61x and i have a 62t 62t. his ski is a yamaha so he wants the 62t cylinders to bolt his exhaust to and i want the low end power range of the 61x cylinders. my question is... is it common for the rings to not seat if we were to do this. or should we just buy some new rings for them?

He has a Yamaha....so what do you have? :dunno:
Both the 61X and 62T are Yamaha parts.
His exhaust won't just bolt up.
You would swap the entire topend, pistons, rings, wrist pin bearings, pins, and head.

Hey Matt, what do you mean by his exhaust won't bolt up

Also Matt right with everything you have to swap over but it sounds like way more work then it actually is, as long as you don't loose anything while taking it apart it shouldn't take you very long at all

An exhaust for a 62T cylinder typically will not bolt right up to a 61X cylinder.

well he had a 62t in it originally. i know the exhaust port holes are located a little higher on the 62t so he may not be getting very good exhaust flow. his ski also it having problems with taking off. almost seems like the carb doesnt get fuel right but we have tried a known good carb.

There is more than that.
The bolt holes in the 62T cylinder are larger (M10) than in the 61X cylinder (M8). To bolt a 61X exhaust to a 62T cylinder, you would have to either enlarge the holes in the 61X manifold or put inserts into the 62T cylinder.
If it's a stock exhaust, it probably won't bolt up right to the head anymore.

mine came out of a 97 waveraider, i have the coffman sizzler exhaust off my 650 yamaha on mine now, i had to drill out my bolt holes to get my exhaust on. he has the stock exhaust on his waveraider which originally had a 62t engine that was blown, so he bought a 61x not knowing there was much difference, but he did get it for a 150 dollars which just isnt right!!!!, and the support bracket doesnt bolt to the 61x head so he wanted to swap for that reason. well i feel like im rambeling on now so imma shutup. thanks in advance
