Oil Question(s) 2W Yamalube VS. TC-W3 (Kawachem, Pennzoil, Super-Tech, Quicksilver)

I ran amsoil dominator in my race bike (ported, high comp head, carb mods, endless engine mods) for a long time, I decided to run cheapo walmart stuff for a season just for kicks. I noticed no difference in the engine internals. The amsoil does burn cleaner though. So I run walmart oil in my ski.

I was told years ago that the Kawichem and Yamalube were made by the same manufacturer.

WOW, people are running 50:1! People must like rebuilding motors every other season? Everyone I know would rather foul a plug than rebuild a motor. At least 8-10 riders that I know all mix 32:1 (topping off the ratio rite). Plus I have not fouled a plug in a year and half!

I was not brave enough to try out the wal mart brand oil, so I went with the Pennzoil XLF. My buddy runs Quicksilver and we both mix at 32:1 and it is defineatly noticable that the Pennzoil XLF smokes much more.

Just last week I lost a piston skirt and toasted a cylinder. In addition, it also blew out a hole in the crank case. On a 2006 SJ original 701 motor, was running 185 psi. 5yrs on a motor, not bad! I am certian that the oil had nothing to do with it, but will stop cheapin' out and switch to quicksilver on my next motor.

im glad you have everything dialed in :squint:... 50:1 was recommended to me by one of the best in the business (did all my engine work), and quicksilver is cheapen out imo...

Freeride engines spend most of their life running overly rich while averaging very little power and heat. Common outboard oil has proven to work so whats the reasoning behind $50/gal oil. Road race 125s need it to finish an 8hr race, what does it do for us?

my family has ran quicksilver in there boats since the beginning of time. thats what i use and what ill stick to.

:jester: first quote was before i had 10k in a boat. my opinion changed after i spent lots of time and money with jetworks. i still use quicksilver in the ol' 550sx but dominator (as Art advised) in my superjet.


kevbo, i pay about 38 dollars per gallon for dominator...

i pay 27 or 29 a gallon for dominator. you might want to try getting it somewhere else. but i gave all them up and back to castor 927.
