yo! my FX is getting a makeover. I have acquired parts all fall/winter and now it's time to get some work done. So far I have de-purpled, prepped bilge for glass reinforcement , and cut holes for footholds.

Well.... I installed the footholds last night. Took me long enough to get started but the job went great. Tried to take a pic and my droid says "sd card damaged. you may need to re format..." Makes the second time this has happened. First time the phone was only a week old so I didn't lose much. This time's a different story. 9 months of pics, and my Angry Birds profile is lost!! and I was dangerously close to having a 3 star performance on every board and my final golden egg. dammit dammit $hit.......

I'm going to get started filling the bond line and continue prepping the bilge for an extra layer of glass tonight. Don, I'm thinking Saturday would be a good day for sponson install. I know you've been wanting to check those out anyway.

Anybody have an opinion on the placement of these 'exact fit fx1 sponsons'? Should they be flush with the bottom of the hull or offset a bit?

if you raise them slightly it will allow for more blending in and a little more area to adhere. but im talking 1/8 inch or so.

You make some quality products Tom. Your tubbs make the FX look so much better.. IMO

I got started on the bilge reinforcement last night. Looks like I used a wild beaver to cut the sides but that edge will be covered when I finish. I had been wondering about what to paint/coat the inside with after I finish glassing. I tried some pigment in the epoxy and was surprised at how opaque the resin became with just a tiny amount added. No need for paint.

no mighty eagle.. I had 3 stars on all levels in the first two themes (poached eggs, mighty hoax)... and on 3 & 4 (danger above & the big setup) I had around 110 of the 135 stars required in each. Verizon is sending me a replacement droid this week so it's back to square one..... Consequently, I have been getting a lot more work done without it.

l was very impressed with Tom21's tubbies! They fit well and sucked right up to the hull. But would you expect anything else from Tom!

The bottom of the hull looks great man! You're an old pro now.

What happened to ya,hornedogg? Let's see some progress! tic toc......................

I'm still on it! Just nothing really exciting. Finally installed the right side tubb. I used thickened epoxy on this side. On the left side I used 5200 and it took a over a week before I was comfortable taking the screws out. Kinda had my build at a stand still. I couldn't finish the glass on the inside because I had screws poking through. The epoxied right side was ready for sanding and blending the next day.

received some goodies in the mail.. thanks chris! ..and I have decided to go with a 900zxi shaft, 20x52x15mm bearings, and 20x52x7mm seals in my existing mid-shaft housing. Seems to be a proven method and replacement parts are easily found. I removed the screws from my pump shoe and it just fell out in my hands.. I have read where many of you have had a great deal of trouble with this task so I feel lucky. It's like my FX is trying to tell me "Please get this little pump out of mee!!"
