I would treat this situation slightly different because we're talking about a kid. (teenage?) This is an opportunity for him to learn something from some good solid people. Perhaps this thread should be sent to Chad, so he can see how a man handles his business, so he can understand the error of his ways.

All very well said Sportfish.

You get all that Chad?

What is the "site policy" for people that have developed a habit of ending up in the negative feedback forum? I would think that a single negative post could be miscommunication between buyer/seller, but if you end up there more than that then the problem lies within you...not your customers.

I vote month suspension on every negative after 1 :D

I disagree with the paypal or credit card only statement, there are some notable exceptions to that rule. The first that comes to mind is Prick of Misery, he doesn't take credit cards or paypal and it is doubtful you will find a better seller anywhere. While he may be the exception to the rule he does stand out as one of those people who shows the rest of us how it should be done.

this kind of stuff really makes you think twice. lucky for me i have had nothing but good luck with the people i have bought parts from on here, but unfortunately for others thats not the case. i can see how some may say its because he is a "kid" but i cant view it that way. that doesnt excuse him for the way he acted after the fact and not making things right. hell, even when i was a "kid" i had more respect for MYSELF than to handle things in that fashion.

I stay local. (anymore) learned this lesson early on the X. Establish relationships with sellers that you ride with, can call on the phone etc....
I consider the guys I buy from to be friends. They might not always have what you want or need, so you either wait or go to a big-name (Riva, Greater Yamaha...)

Yes. There's always gonna be something for sale, for a great price, from a seller with 2 posts that you've never heard of. And it will be what you need. This is where the site policy is exactly right. It will be your decision to deal or not to deal.

I'm not defending any seller. The guy you're talking about should have responded by making it right, one way or another.
If he deliberately failed to disclose, or attempted to hide the defects......what a d%&#.

I troll Craigslist in my area every week now just to flag Dirkdiggler posts. That's how I deal with unethical sellers.

Site policy is buyer beware.

That's the best policy for whatever your buying. The saying "If's it too good to be true it probably is" are words to live by.
The ethics of some pwc shops is worse than sellers on here but that's a whole other thread

that really sucks that people are dishonest like this... i figure we all are into the same hobby we know what its like to get ripped off. why would you want to make someone else feel like they got ripped off. its really too bad that people have too do this kind of bs...

If he's a kid he's playing a "grown man's" game...better get with the program.

Has anyone contacted the father? I know if someone came to me and politely said "your son screwed me on this deal" and they had evidence to prove it, my kid would get an instant lesson on ethics that he would never forget.

Uh, this kid is at least 20 - 22 now if I am not mistaken.

And your point is ?????? Does parenting end when your child reaches a certain age? Is anyone ever too old to learn a life lesson especially about ethics and how to treat others? I'm 46 and my Dad is 76. If he came to me and said "Son, you gotta make this right" I would make it right. And if I were telling my son to make things right, no matter if he were 12 or 22, I would expect him to, and I know he would, no question.

And IMHO a 20 year old is still a kid, especially in today's America.

My problem is with receiving uninsured poorly packaged engine parts that get damaged in transit and become expensive paperweights. A couple pieces of newspaper will not keep a crank from taking a trip half way across the country inside a cylinder or keep that same crank from playing tag with a pair of pistons on the way. I'm sorry does not cut it. I suggest everyone get detailed pics before the item ships and pics of how it is packaged plus make sure INSURANCE is purchased when it ships.
