650/X-2 first ski, 650sx?

this is my buddy's 1991 Kawasaki 650 that we picked up and have been working on and cleaning up. how do you tell if its a sx, or a js? we tore apart the motor and figured out why it wasn't getting spark, the stator was fried... new stator on the way and getting ready to paint it. what kind of paint do you recommend? were both new to jet skis, but very mechanicly inclined with 4x4's... thanks!

There is no JS 650.

650SX's are almost hated around here. I personally think they are fine for a first ski. Don't bother doing more than the <$100 and free mods. Save the mod money for your next ski. Keep the 650SX around for friends to ride.

Search here and PWC today, there was a guy that modded his exhaust and a few other tweaks and got some decent speed out of his.

if your going for a simple paint job just use appliance epoxy paint. it only comes in blac and white but lasts and holds up to fuel spills.

ya thats what were gonna use on the hull part thats in the water. the top were gonns do in color. so just s good couple coats of clear and we should be good.

ya i donk know why everybody hates them i think there nice well built ski's... better than the 550. there cheap and pretty tough from what i hear. making them a great first ski...
