Other why don't used aftermarket hulls sell well?

It seems like aftermarket hulls don't sell well at all. After going to daytona it looks like aftermarket manufacturers are selling hulls like hot cakes (espescially Rickter). Why not save some money and buy used?

I think most people who have the money for aftermarket hulls want the latest and greatest. That or the really popular hulls sell through word of mouth and not on here. Lastly, some hulls prove to be more hype than reality.

yep..I agree 100%

I bought my rickter via WOM, as my f1 pro......most of the really nce parts ive come across have been WOM as well..

as for selling, atthe moment I think is time of year...but I have had more interest in the FS-1 since sunday AM than I have in the past 3 weeks...

events like the freeride also really help to get you into ski mode..and when have a chance to actually see and touch what youre buying rather than just look at pictures and read other peoples descriptions which more than likely dont match your personal riding style/conditions

I'm not sure but i think there might be some dealers that offer financing, where as a used hull will need to be bought outright and most used hulls don't come with a title so a bank loan is not an option.
just a thought:shrug:

i thought i saw Brian @ thrust post something about financing... but again i don't know, it was just a thought. i think EME will finance i think i saw something on his site about it.

it is also possible that the buyers are trying to establish a relationship with a shop in order to get a better deal on the "gobs" of other parts they will most likely be buying.

I also think at the moment alot of people may be doing exactly what I am, waiting it out to see what lasts and what stays popular for more than a week.
I am NOT dissing any hull manufacturer out there, but there have been several lately that had the latest and greatest, several bought them, and then the
flash was over faster than it ever started. I could get my hands on the money for a hull today, but at 40 years old I am FINALLY learning to set back and
be patient. Besides, it's cold as crap outside and I have plenty of time to call someone like Berky and say "can u have me a hull ready in a week"? lol

I also blame a pisspoor econemy right now and the idiot we have in office. lol (had to throw that in there)

Let's not be unrealistic here....

Used a/m hulls, in great condition, are still relatively expensive. The economy etc...being what it is, the potential buyers are the ones that can afford new anyway.
It's kind of a shame. But it's the truth.
People that buy "used" are generally looking for a deal.
People that can afford new are gonna buy new.

There are a lot of a/m hulls out there for sale in great shape.

Well Said Dan.... There's so many very nice clean A/M hulls out there 4 sale, but nothing seems to be selling. I think Rickters have been hit the worst with all this FS1/FS2, FR, XFS

i think a big reason for hulls not selling is the fact that there simply isnt enough of them around for people to try imho.. im in the market to get something and its really tough to pull the trigger on a hull based on the looks or people's feedback

im sure the winter/$issue's are the biggest problems but this is my biggest problem right now

It was great at Daytona, guys would ride the SF... Wait a few and back for another ride, lol

It was cool to see some guys take mine and Lucas 's skis for a ride last Friday, that's priceless...

Who would borrow money to buy a toy ? If you can't afford it don't buy it

agreed. A loan on a toy is a poor choice.
I would never buy a hull I could not ride first.
I would also agree the economy has something to do with it. mostly people that are living beyond there means are the most effected by the economy.

In short there are many reasons for the hulls not selling.
I think all of the reason in this thread have an effected on new and used hull sales. And these high dollar skis are a liability at best, defiantly not an asset.

there is a big difference between being able to pay for something and being able to afford it.
thats just my thoughts on the OP question.

Ya I totally agree when your spending 7k for a new hull , saving 1-1.5 k isnt worth it , if you don't know what your getting.unless I was getting it half price used it would be hard for me not to buy it new. We all know the abuse these things go threw

hmmmmm.... I am sitting here in the "office" right now wondering why gil is calling me an Idiot LOL

ohhhhhhhhhhhh
i get it LOL

yeah there is some truth to that, but it's also the "fat-man" getting fatter and sending jobs overseas and the "idiot" in the office going hmmmm how do we fix this problem.... Let's raise taxes so we can support more unemployed people and more people living off the govie..... yeah... that will work... it's CHANGE... change from the way we used to do it where people had options to work at....
