Other N.J. to FLA road trip then jet ski from Miami to Key West

I'm here sick of another N.J. winter, thinking about a road trip with a couple friends to Florida middle of February (obviously with skis). My plan is to hit a couple spots along the way and end up in MIami, where we will jet ski to Key West over the course of a couple days. We have done alot of long distance riding, so this should not be a big problem. Have any of you done a trip like this in that area, and is there anything out of the ordinary that we should look out for? We will have a chase vehicle with fuel and other supplies following along. Anyone else in Jersey looking for a break from this wnter?

you may want to go to pwctoday.com and hit up the s. florida riders. I know theirs a group of couchers that live that way and gets together for those kind of ride.

I love the keys but you have to be extremely carefull where you go and where you stay. Some places do not allow any jet skis!!

so far (2) stand up, and (2) couches hope to stay in Islamorada one night. I have to see if there is a place that will allow skiis.

Man I wouldn't ride my stand ups more than 2 miles... I hand it to the two standup guys.... I don't even think I would ride my SUV more than 15 miles lol

For charity last May, we did a trip from Ocean City, Maryland to Belmar, N.J. in one day. That was 175 miles in open ocean. Myself and another friend on superjets and two others on sit-downs. But on this trip we will spread it out over a few days a try to catch as many sights as possible.

hit up the harbor lights hotel in Islamorada (mile marker 83 It think, about 1 mile north of the tiki bar) . They allow jet skis and is right next to the tiki and famous sand bar (that's where the party's at!)

Extremely nice that you did that for charity. We have one of the most volatile weather systems in the world down here…conditions change rapidly without warning, and even the most experienced of mariners have frequently regretted decisions (in ships). I hope you enjoy your time in Florida.
