I currently run a big R&D scoop grate and have run a 2 bar grate on this hull. I can make the hull slip and slide sideways with both using the exacts same technique. I noticed that the pump snatches right before you stop sliding with the scoop grate while I have to feather the throttle after I've stopped sliding to get moving again with the 2 bar grate. When riding at speeds above 25-30mph, I can feel the scoop grate sucking the hull to the water and it glides across the chop as if it were glass. The hull just bounces up and down the chop with the 2 bar though.
I think it's hard to tell the difference between any of the intake grates when you're just messing around. The differences begin to appear in certain scenarios though and that's what makes one better than the other. A 30 minute test may not reveal the benefit or the flaw with either. When I was still riding my 750, I rode a full day with a Worx half scoop, 2 bar grate, and a deep R&D scoop grate and couldn't tell any difference between the three. Then one day I tried a jet dynamics intake grate and immediately noticed it was superior to the others. I haven't ever had that far superior feel on SJ grates yet. Some just slightly shine over others in my experience.
