Other first ride

Well my mate took my daughter out yesterday for her first ride on a ski :-}}

it was a bit hard as her hands are a little small to reach the throttle but she did well , shame i didnt get any of her standing up but i think she did ok for 6 years old :-}}

:love:She’s cute! I noticed a photo you posted a while back too; she looked just like the lady in the photo with her! If I had a six year old, I’m not too sure I would allow a solo ski ride…too much could go wrong; maybe if someone rigged a serious governor, but probably not. Do you guys have age limits over there?

i live in jakarta indonesia , no age limits , no ski rego , no insurance do as you want .

yes she does look like her mum a lot :-}}

ill rig my SJ up with a different throttle that i can adjust right in for her to reach , it will only have about 1/3 rd throttle so will be fine , she has been riding motorbikes since she was 3 so has the throttle control thing down already .

i was going to get a new seadoo for her and the wife and i just have a key coded for her so it only goes to about 3500-4000 rpm

Thats nice Shane, I believe in teaching them young too, I know you were there and " parental supervision" is the key, not like at my lake where the seadoo is the babysitter! BTW, I have pm'd you a few times before on SMJ and I have been riding since I was 4 which is why I am so agreeable to this! lol

she obviously has good hand-eye coordination...balance. Even though the fx1 is squirrely to some, it would not be for her...a lighter ski would probably be more safe for her.

Don't listen to all these cooks who are afraid of their own shadow. Get them riding as soon as they want to and show them the right way.
One of my biggest pet peeves about the USA is how everyone is so artificially safety conscious. Not all kids around the world are retards who have been raised in a bubble hooked up to a playstation, you know.

Laws are laws, and if you don’t like it, you can leave; it’s not like we don’t have mega illegal traffic to fulfill your shoes! :moon:

Shane appears to be safe…she is coordinated and active…so it is cool…not all parents take such things into proper consideration, and that is why laws exist (statistics).

Right on Shanes and daughter ! that is awesome . Let the law of commonsense prevail oh and the law of Darwin as well .

i dont push her into anything , but if she wants to do it i let her try .
i raced motorbikes for years but never once asked her if she wanted to ride , she wanted a bike and i let her choose when she wants to ride it , its the same with the ski , all she has been asking is when she can ride so i let her , she can swim she has a life vest on so she can have a go .
i would rather spend 10-15k on a ski for her to ride than 200 dollars on a stupid playstation .
i think kids need to be exposed to things at an early age , and i think it shows with her so far she will have a go at most things and is very confident , the laws today have gone to far in there restrictions i think .
yesterday she spent 1 hour swimming with a dolphin hanging onto its fin and doing laps exposing kids to many things at a young age is what a parent should be doing not sticking them in front of a tv with a playstation

anyway she loved it and this morning wanted to know when she could ride it again but said she needs more practice as she was to slow :-}}

Nice post!

Like with anything, it depends upon the individual; that said, some individuals (parents) are not fit to be parents...you obviously are.

I totally agree with you on the television and children as well (adults for that matter). I stopped watching most television at a very early age, and it is extremely rare that I watch it even today; I was always outside, and thankful for it.

If she continues to show interest, I hope you get her a lightweight custom ski. If not, it would be really great for you to keep posting photos of her, for she is just precious! You are very fortunate! :love:

For some reason, females get it quicker. No matter thier age.
She will be smokin' you in no time. Keep her riding.
You're gonna have to work hard to keep up!

My friends daughter never rode a "sit-down" ski. She was handling the surf at 12. (not exactly legal here) but I would trust her to tow me in!

Awsome! my buddy's son rides with us (age 7) and can ride a 750/sj pretty well but can ride the crap out of an x2. Another one of the kids that grew up around us can out-ride half the people on the beach(lol) and is now getting into racing at 15 and doing well. never too young!

uh oh! You slipped up there! I think you meant to say "if"; that is, IF you are not being pushy as you claimed! SHE may change her mind and get interested in something else rather quickly...that's how we females are! :bigok:
