Yes, but can they pass EPA emissions regulations in the years to come?
From a personal installation standpoint i don't think it would make sense to install one but from a production ski point of view it is probably the best alternative.
P.S. You guys are way off on your cost and power to weight ratios. Production costs/specs on certain rotary marine powerplants are very reasonable and on par with current 2 strokes....and thats all i am allowed to say about it. :sneaky:

The Wenkel isn't exactly an EPA darling either. Even the Renesis has some issues and is choked down quite a bit.
I remember some heavily ported race motors that would dump so much fuel out the exhaust at idle that you could run a 4 cylinder on the fumes alone. Still love the sound of a peripheral ported twin rotor at full song. Hell, just having one idle was enough to get a decent crowd to gather.

While you guys have been bickering about what to call these engines, I heard back from Aixro about their engines. They agree their current engine does not meet our power class but a dual rotor version will and are currently working on broadening their engine to fit different applications, including jet skiis.

Lets just say there are some new designs in rotary technology that place rotary engines very high on the list for feasable replacements to 2-stroke and 4 strokes for the standup world and leave it at that. mmmkay?

I hope you are right as the rotarys linear power delivery is sooo addictive.
I know there's a lot more out there but none has made it to mass production as yet which is a great shame. Pistons are so overrated and the whole 4 stroke wastefulness is sooo yesteryear.

2 plugs on a 701 versus 4 on a 13B, doesn't sound that bad to me.
No rods to bend and if it's normally aspirated, clearing it out should be a snap.
You dont always have to pull the plugs on a two stroke.... you do in a rotary, personally I love the rotary i would put it in everything! even my lawn mower! lol but for what we put two strokes thru it just wouldnt work... not a chance, and i really dont think they would do too well taking a gulp of water.

This could make for one fun experiment.
Take a 701 at full song and dump a glass of water down the carb and do the same with a rotary.
