Custom/Hybrid Piston wash on coated pistons

i'm running pistons with a coated top. my plugs are starting to getting close to where i think they should be, but there is absolutely no carbon on the pistons. there is about a hour of run time on them now and i know there should be some kind of carbon after 5 minutes. any input?

thanks

this is on my watercraft/snowmobile hybrid engine. don't think it matters to know, but vf3, 46sbns, powerfactor pipe, and TL.

hmm, i'll be paying way more attention to the plugs then. my oem polaris pistons had a perfect wash pattern on them. btw. if i can get the power to drop about another 1k rpms. todays test ride was beastly. this thing has some serious potential i think.

I think piston wash has a lot to do with the oil you use as well. I run Marine Penzoil synthetic and piston wash is almost non existent. I tried playing with the tuning because I thought maybe I was too rich. 1/16 of turn in either direction made the ski run crappy so I changed it back to where I had it and said "to hell with piston wash".

Note that any water ingestion, even if slight, can steam clean a piston very quickly.
