so i got a cheap sx 650 and didnt really like the way it handled as a stand up(everyone know the 650 i a gigantic turd in the water) and i dont have a X2 so i decide it might be a good first projedt to make a sx in to a X2.

i will try to get some more pictures of it when i get more done, i am thinking of cuting two inches of the back off the bottom deck but i am not to sure about that yet. Anyone every do that on a 650sx before

I shortened my sx 2 1/2". Made the ski ride nose high and turn a lot sharper when blipping around, also made the back end a lot more squirrely. I liked it even though a few people who rode it hated it.

I dont know if i am going to cut the whole yet, but i was going to cut it 2.5 iches if i did whitca, for no i just decided to take off my ocean pro ride plate and D- cut the stock one so i am going to see how big of difference that makes.

Yea the bars are a little far forward but i rode it before i started the deck project and it actually wasn't to uncomfrontable, i did order 6 inch snowmobile risers to move the bars back and make them a little higher, i am hoping to have it turf and ride it a little this weekend.

yes i will give wfo speedracer credit for the inspiration behind my ski, you did a very nice job on your 650sx fixed steer, i hope mine turns out as good as yours did, i saw that you made changes to your front end on yours ski--- did that make a big difference in handling

i was thinking about shortening mine 2.5 inch as well, for now i took off the ocean pro and D-cut the stock one so i think i will see how that works befor i dig into cutting the bottom deck down, i rode a super jet that was cut down two inchs and like that alot, but then again a super jet is a whole different beast

It makes the front end pop out of the water faster, the ski gets some pretty serious air considering I am running a basically stock 650 engine, next year I will have a big bore 750 small pin in it.Like most people I wouldn't have given the 650SX hull the time of day, I was given this one and decided to build the fixed steer out of it just because, the results have exceeded my wildest expectations.

yea the 650 needs all the help it can get, getting out of the water, i put a 750sx carb on mine and half a westcoat 550 pipe and ran almost all the water out of the pipe, which did make a big difference, but still doest feel as strong as my 750sx did stock before i did the motor up. Simple mods to the 750sx motor definitly make a big difference, i have been contemplating putting the 750 motor in my 650 hull but i think looking for a cheap stock motor might be the way to go.

i am also contemplating get a cart tank to put in mine to make the front a little lighter but we will see, i was looking at my 750sx with the factory wet pipe and i don't know if it would fit in the hull with the hug 650sx fuel tank, i don't know what pipe you will be running but i would definitly be intrested in what pipe or if you think a factory wet pipe would fit

what is the weight of a 650 hull alone? i have been looking for something still stand up based but that is easier for new people to ride. plus i can't do a lot of my old moto/x tricks wioth the moving bar. was thinking a 650 fixed steer like yall have may be a nice hybrid

i am not sure the exact weight of just the hull but the manuel says the dry weight of the boat is 128kg, what ever that convert to in pounds. Its definitly not the lightest hull setup kawisaki has made, there are definitly a few pounds you can shave off right away though, like the fire extinguisher compartment and the other storage compartment, along with the gas tank overflow fuel catcher, right there is definilty a few pounds cut of. If your a kawi guy i have had all 440/550s, 650s, and 750s and out of all those hull i think this is definitly the best bet to turn into a fixed steer model, the stock handle pole weighed a ton, and the 650 hull is definitly alot eaiser for beginers to learn on the the 440/550s, i taught all my freinds how to ride on the 650 before i put the fix steer on

Here are the pics at the scale, I had it on the hitch hauler so I used a stand to slide it off of the truck and back, first pic we weighed the stand , second pic is the stand and the ski. Now this ski does have a lightweight race and is flat decked, but that weight is with a full tank of gas and a sealed std size battery. So much for 650's being heavy pigs !
