Super Jet 701 comparison 94 vs. 96

Pretty sure this has been asked before, but...what’s different between the two skies? I just picked up a RN and plan on getting rid of my SN later on, so trying to decide which motor/electronics to sell it with.

96 is stock with dual carb (compression is 158 both holes) stock electronics

95 is stock with single carb with 175psi stock milled head Riva pipe Riva F/A stock electronics

The 95 will have 61x electronics while the 96 will have the 62T electronics.

The 61x flywheel is someone lighter than the T's.

But I would stick with the motor setup out of the 96 and just get the T Flywheel lightened or pick up a lightened one used.

Darn, guess I should of asked this question before I pulled both motors…thought for sure my single carb’d piped motor would of out-performed a stock dual…

I wouldn't bother lightening the flywheel at all. It makes such a minimal difference in my opinion that it's just not worth it.

No, you are correct....a piped single carb will be better that a stock pipe dual carb motor. Why not put the pipe on the dial carb motor? :dunno:

The dual carb engine has 62t cases which are said to be worth 10hp over the single carb 61x cases on a stock engine. The top end (cylinder, pistons, head, exhaust, ect.) are identical between the two. That is why you could (and should) swap over that pipe and head to the dual carb motor. It is a pretty common setup, if you need jetting suggestions I am sure you could find / get some around here.

The X cases are optimized around the single carb setup and will work well, but like Dustin said, you can and will get more out of the T Cases and setup in the long run.

Keep the best parts of each engine, especially the crankshaft. Dont get too worried about which case to use if you arent going to buy big carbs and port the cyl. Your pipe and prop selection will make all the difference in performance.
