Other yami 650 dead

Just picked up a 93 Waverunner LX with a 650. When we bought it she started right up, but the seller said it needed a new battery. After getting a brand new battery she lasted a couple of weekends of riding. Today I took her out, and she tried to crank, but slowly stopped, not even a click. I pulled the battery out, and she was dead. I'm guessing its the starter, but I want suggestion on what others think before I go and buy one.

Thanks

You should figure out why it's cranking slowly first. Is it because the battery is drained? Try a different, fully charged battery. If it still cranks slow, remove the plugs and crank. If it still cranks slow, your crank or pump bearings may be going out.
If it cranks faster without the plugs, your starter is suspect

When you figure out what you need, I have a whole 650 motor out of a squarenose that I am parting. The only thing not available is the crank. That is already claimed.

just an update, i put a fully charged battery in it and i got nothing, no click, nothing. i also pulled the starter off and it was really rusty, and when i shook it something was rattling inside it

It wasn't directed at you. Once you unbolt the starter, there's only one cable attached anymore.
So at the risk of amusing you pointing out the obvious, the advice may spare someone less apt a misdiagnosis.

turned out to be the starter solenoid relay, but when we put the ski in the water it was very sluggish and un responsive, she struggled to get on plane. ideas? maybe a good carb clean?
