Yamaha superjet

Bought a new 2018 superjet! Exited to get off my 650sx lol. Any suggestions on how to break the ski in and set the rings properly? Best oil to use while going thru the break in period and ratio? Also the best oil and ratio to run once ski is ready to rip? Lastly since it is a new toy New England is still a bit chilly but does the water temp affect the ski at all? Thanks in advance

I bought a new SJ as well. To break it a varied throttle a lot the first tank. Never went full open. Then second tank ran it real hard. To break in I used Yamaha 2r (I think) the red oil. Now I run Maxima oil. I am in northern MN where we still have two feet of ice on the lake but I don't ride usually tell water temp is 60 degrees or more...never had a problem there as I don't think you would anyway. I love to jet ski...in freeze my ass off most of the year anyway...So i promised myself I wouldnt do it when I was riding jet skis! Anyway hope that helps

I am going to need pictures of this new ski or it didn’t happen.

Asking how to break it in is almost like asking what oil to use and you got both. LOL. But seriously. The biggest thing is to heat cycle the new engine. I typically run about 1/3 throttle for the first 1/2 tank always varying the throttle. Do this for about 10 minutes then let cool for about 30 minutes and repeat. Then up to 1/2 throttle the next 1/2 tank. Then up to 3/4 for another half then on the final 1/2 up to full throttle but don’t hold it there.
For break in any standard TCW-3 approved oil is fine but I mix it a little richer for the first 2 tanks.
Then pick your favorite oil and enjoy.

I also need to say I hate you for being able to buy a new superjet. California won’t allow them because our trees need constant hugging.
