I'm just curious, what's the bottom filler supposed to do ... I'm assuming it's supposed to do something tubbie like?

Make the hull ride over the waves clean without the tendancy for it to lean to one side like a stocker. It was designed for cutting bouy's not wave riding.

you must be talking about the one Tom21 makes.

it lets the front of the hull turn. Those huge knife edges that are on the bottom of the hull act like a keel and keep the hull straight and resistant to turning. It also helps keep the nose up. adding these and/or x2 tubbies along with cutting the back of the ski 1-2" make the ski very nimble.
