X2 650 Stator

Hi guys. I just recieved the stator for my brother's X2 in the mail today. I havent yet recieved my repair manual (its on its way) but I need to get this thing in there by Friday or Saturday at the very latest. What special tools do I need and how do I go about replacing the stator? Anyone got a little step by step for me? Also, how much time am I looking into replacing this thing? Need to figure out how many beers to buy :haha:

Pull the flywheel, then the stator. Should line up with the mark on the cases for stock timing. Test your old one before going to all the trouble.

step 1 : remove the furl tank
2 : unbolt the front engine cover and remove it watch for the washers that are one the starter clutch
3: unbolt the centre bolt that holds on the fly wheel . if your fly wheel hasnt been off for awile a rattle gun is the easyest or find a way to stop the engine truning over
4 : you need a bearing puller or simular. there are 3 threaded hold round your fly wheel hub that you bolt the puller onto .
5: undo the 2 phillips head screws that hold your stator on (impact screw driver is easest they can be real tight and you dont wont to strip the heads off the screw) make sure you look where your timeing marks line up to .your timeing marks are on the top off your stator where the screw is .
6: disconect your wireing up by your steering and take it out the housing that its in that bolts up top by your coild and steering (pre 92 i think lata is by the starter solonid).
7:the is a small fine phillips head screw that hols the stator wires into the cases with the rubber bung then you can pull all the wires thro your engine cases and the stator should be in your hand .

i think thats all off it from memory hope it helps :arms:

I bought a pretty good one at Harbor Freight, believe it or not. Be sure to get one with FINE threads on the large threaded rod.
Some auto parts places may have a loaner kit you can get.
I thought you were going to test the stator before pulling it out?
