X metal scupper installation

Location

Alright, searched scupper threads and couldn't find what I was looking for....

I'm in the midst of trying to start putting my tray back together and am at a deadlock while I'm waiting for the scupper to be delivered.

Does the Xmetal scupper actually need to be installed within the PVC pipe or can I install the actual piping, expoxy it in and when the scupper arrives install that on the outside? I haven't seen any pics from the back of the scupper but it looks like it just needs a flush surface to mate to, nothing else. Can anybody confirm this?

Also, what thickening agent should I use with the epoxy to install the PVC. I have 406 (Silica) and 407 (LowDense Filler), can I get by with either of these?

Wamilton's website has an installation doc for this type of scupper. The scupper actually goes around the 2" pvc. I didn't follow his instructs and ended up making it 3x as difficult for myself. I used 5200 fast cure.

I'd recommend putting in a one-way valve too if you have the footwell out. The one xmw scupper I put in leaks like a siv, the flap never sits completely flush.

I found it was easiest to glue in the scupper first, then insert heated pvc into the bilge side hole and into the scupper. I held the PVC there until it cooled.
When i tried attaching it to the scupper first, I couldn't get the scupper to sit flush, as the weight of the pvc would keep rotating it, or pushing the edges out.
