I was swapping cases and removed the front piston without any problems. The rear piston was difficult. I removed the c clip and had to tap out the wrist pin with a wooden dowel. The dowel just rested against the outside edge of pin, it shouldn't have damaged the bearings. When I finally got the wrist pin out, the actual bearing rods just fell out of the bearing cage! The bearing cage was difficult to remove from the rod as well. I inspected the front bearing and it was perfect and it pulled out easily from the rod. I noticed a bit more play/slop in the rear rod versus the front rod prior to pulling the crank. The bottom end bearings are smooth.

1. The bearing was functioning fine the last time the engine was run, was it about to fail???
2. What would cause a bearing to be difficult to remove and fall apart with pin removed?
3. How much play should bottom end/crank bearings have?

Thanks in advance boys.
