Super Jet Worx 201 Factory Finish Question

I bought a Worx 201 maybe 15 years ago and I remember the finish being a nice Jet Dynamics like coating. I just ordered a new one today from OEMcycle and it came in this chrome like finish. Can someone confirm this is how they come now? It just seems rather cheaper

The fit is perfect but it looks like a thin cheap chrome plating applied to a course brushed finish. Obviously a cost savings measure over the old finish. Sigh!

Yes I seal it front and rear where the bolts are. Then wipe it smooth with alcohol and and a paper towel.

Supposedly to seal the intake from sucking air and cavitating. Kind of an old school thing I just do it because I'm used to it. Many just put it on dry.

Wouldn't you need to seal the whole edge to prevent that? I get it though. Just something people are used to.

But sealing just the bolts wouldn't help with that would it?

It's sealing the flat mounting surfaces not really the bolts. The flat mounting spots just so happen to be where the bolts mount.
