I scavenged and cleaned up both a functioning Bendix and Flywheel from another engine and now am trying to install the Flywheel onto the FX-1 crankshaft.

Is the Woodruff Key installed Round Side up or down?

Note: Although it doesn't show it in my FX-1 Service Manual it does show that the Woodruff Key is installed Round Side into the Crankshaft.

What is the best way to install the Flywheel on the Woodruff Key?

Do you place the Woodruff key in the Flywheel and then install the Flywheel onto the crank?

Or do you install the Woodruff Key onto the crankshaft and then install the Flywheel onto the crank?

How do you line up the Flywheel to the Woodruff Key? or Woodruff Key channel?

down always , yes put the key in the crank and then put the flywheel on , I have on occasion when dealing with a sloppy fit on the key used a drop of superglue to hold the key in place while you put the flywheel back on.

Thank you. After I found the round top goes into the crank in the diagram, I actually saw that the groove in the crank itself had a round cup to receive it.

Now I need to know if I have it seated properly. I will torque it to 50 foot pounds and then see if the cover fits, if you have any suggestions for that please let me know.

It has been a long time since I have done this.
