650/X-2 Won't start

It sounds like it wants to start but doesn't. I want to try putting gas in the carb to see if it'll start that way. I've never done that before so i would like someone's input. And also how to. The guy I bought it from said it ran the last time he had it out. Which was a couple years ago. Here is some pics.

Couple years ago means u will need to rebuild the carb u can dump a small amount of gas in top of the flame arrestor just to hear it fire up but carbs will gum up in less than a year. If u dont clean the carb and rebuild it u risk running it lean and cooking the motor.

Ok I've never rebuilt a carb.. and I'm pretty sure this one is dual carb too. So that means rebuilding two lol...

I put a Lil gas in the carb and tank and it fired right up sounded good! But when I hit the throttle and let off it wants to keep going. How do you adjust that? I can take better pics of my carb if need be.
