Stock js550sx 1994. Reed engine.

Purchased a replacement sea doo 580 starter to replace the stock.
Replaced the ebox with new everything.
Replaced all battery cables.
Everything is grounded.
Go to press the start button and nothing. Replaced the solenoid in the ebox twice and still nothing. When I cross both positive terminals with a screw driver is fires right up! A clear indication that the starter works. The engine runs great.
Is it the start button? Does anyone have a good one or used one I can purchase? Is there an easy way for me to repair what I currently have? Mum losing my mind over this! Thank you community for your positive input and helping me learn.
