Won't rev on start up?

Hey guys, I just finished my ski (jm 61x 760, b pipe) ran good on the first water test, but when you shut it down (whether 2 minutes or 20 minutes) when you refire, it won't rev out for prob 4 or 5 seconds, then its fine until you shut it down again, any thoughts? Im running jetmaniac suggested jetting specs.

Is it loaded up and cleans out or is it an every so slight bog ?

Mine did that on the work stand or when trying to clear the water box out, I was too Lean on the low speed circuit... Trying richening the low speed screws

I think you are just fine my brand new ski does that same thing so i think you are right on point with the tuning. I think it takes a few seconds for the carbs to fill with fuel

Yeah you may be rich too, it’s a new engine, is that correct ? don’t try dialing it in until after its broken in..if you bought it from JM he should be able to help you too

I've never had an engine do this, so I do not think its normal. I bought the engine used, the hull is new, the engine is broken in. Jm is the man for sure, just don't always want to bug him haha wondering if anyone had any experience with this issue and had a solid solution.

Gotcha. Can give more details on what exactly it’s doing and sounding like for those 4-5 seconds ? Is it Out of water on trailer clearing water box or restarting in deep water? Does it have a slightly long crank time before it starts running on its own ?

Asking in case others reading your thread....

I am not sure that is a problem. Over the years I have had lots of different
brands take a few (2 or ~3) pulls on the throttle before they would rev out.

Good thinking. It does have a slightly longer crank time before firing when doing this, this is in the surf not on a stand, it sounds like "BAAAAAHHHHHH, BAAAAHHHHHH" no revs, low acceleration, pump the throttle and it starts to rev as it should, then rips. I'm relatively new to skis, but I've had many, many 2 strokes, this is probably the 6th or 7th different ski/motor I've had and none have done what I'm describing, this is definitely a problem with a solution. I did notice a little oily film (oil and watery mixture) on the fuel inlet side of the carb. Possible I may have spilled some in there, but I'll recheck my fuel line tightness. Thanks for the help so far!
