I was going to bore my 61x to 84mm, but found this topend cheap enough. Will these 62t wiseco 84.5mm pistons work? I was told that 85mm is the max for the 61x cylinder, will 84.5mm make the sleeves to thin without resleeving?
Are there any differences between the 62t and 61x pistons and ring?
Thanks

Its gettin real thin at 84...ive seen and read of some people doing it. Personally I would only do it to a motor I didnt have alot of money into and could afford killing everything.

Chucky recently, told me 84mm is max safe...Do you feel lucky with those 84.5 pistons ?

I agree with Bombthreat: "Personally I would only do it to a motor I didnt have alot of money into and could afford killing everything."

I wouldnt do it either. My last 61x cylinder was at 84mm and it was pretty thin. I just went and measured the skirt on the bottom and it was .075" or 1.90mm thick. If you were gonna do it I would only go 84.25mm and no more, even then i would be nervous.
I only live 60 miles from GroupK and Harry said he would take it to 84.25 if I wanted, but no more. I just decided to resleeve.

The real hard part about boring so close to the edge is the machinist has to be pretty much right on in the bore. A little off to one side or the other can spell big trouble and a lot of machinists wont even go there for fear of messing up your cylinder and having to fix it out of their own pocket.

.75 is 3/4"
