remember that kid who died in like a week after being in Lake Havasu from an ameoba, fresh wata has its cons too. However, Ive been stung by a jelly fish and its no fun for a few hours.

That kid was stupid and was swimming in a area where he should not of been. I dont know why you would want to swim and put your head in 1 feet of 80+ degree smelly stagnant water up a boggy wash. What a retard. I breathe imn more water than that kid ever could, and I'm still living.
They both have there pros and cons.

it's not just stagnant water. I believe 2 people died from similar stuff here in TX last year.

1 in Lake LBJ, and 1 in Lake Buchanan IIRC.

Here are some links to the Brain eating amoebas

Up here in the Northwest we do have to put on a wetsuit a few months a year but there isn't much in the way of critters to bother you. OK, the 20 foot surf is a bit rough. During the summer you can see 30 feet down through the clear water at the lake.
