thanks for the info! I bet a local axle shop could do it. I know I've got one here in Tampa. I'll let you know if the local place can do it and how much...

depends on what part you are trying to respline
if you are thinking about cutting the old spline off and weilding a new one on
good luck
we tried that

Moser Engineering says they should be able do it. They respline dragster axles. They want me to provide a schematic of the shaft to look into it further...

doing a quick google on resplining axles looks like it costs about $60 each.

I think they shave the old spline and cut a spline into a new sleeve material.

yeah we couldnt stop them from rusting afterwards
the wielding did something to the material and it would destroy the splines in about a month
remember we ride only in salt water

One of the splines actually broke of the shaft while were were out there
We actually thought about making just splines
it would of been heaps cheaper but we decided against it because of those issues

But give it a go you may have more success then we did

i looked into this a while back and it was not worth the cost.a local machine shop would weld the shaft up then machine new splines for 180$(3hrs labor@60$an hr and only the rear shaft could be done.that included heat treating also

imo not worth it,a new shaft is 199$

Why don't you just buy a used one? I think it would be about the same price. I see used ones sell for around $100 and I can't see a competent machine shop charging less to repair an old one.

Jeff (Waterdawg) said he charges $100 to re-spline. I have seen one of his and it looks like a really good job. He sends them out to be done but I dunno where. If you can find me a "looks new" B1 drive shaft for $100, I'll take it. I picked up one for $150 with vein section, berrings are smooth, but there is a little wear on the splines already. I love the Waxhead set up, but it's kinda pricey, for my budget.

Waxhead: you looking to sponsor anyone? How bout a discount? I can hold my own on a B1. See attached resume
