Where to start?

I'm getting really good at the tricks that finish with me swimming back to the ski, mostly distances of 50-100 feet. I'd like to learn a few things that involve me actually staying on the ski, or intentionally winding up off of the ski.

I'm on a stock 650 with no holds of any type. My question is where should I start with no holds or straps? I plan to give the ski a total overhaul over the winter, but I'm looking for something to do in the meantime other than a weak tailstand and a graceful back flop off the side of the ski.

Or should I just learn to ride the thing until I get holds on it?

Thanks.

Some old school with the greats of the sport. Lots of good tricks done without the high HP and mods skis of today. Watch and get creative out on the lake! Remember skills before mods.

well if you spread your feet out as far as you can and push them hard you can do alot of tricks with out holds...(but u might get stiches)i learned with out holds...180 nose stabs...broke 3 handle poles and got hurt alot but now im better at a nose stab then standing on my feet...lol...

I would just go ahead and get foot holds. I remember when I got mine, also on a stock 650SJ, and it was amazing. Your footing is so secure compared to before, but then I had to start wearing shoes or booties when I rode.
