So I have been away from my ski for a while as settled down and did the whole start a family thing, but as I started to ramp up back for summer i started to get everything together to go get my 91 squarenose from my parents ranch and take it out to the local lake(millerton) near their house only to find out that i might not be able to as the lake enacted a 2-stroke ban. I'm hoping when we go down at the end of the month I can just go up and see if i can sneak on, maybe they will be passive about that rule, but if they don't and they turn me around then im trying to think what now? Sure i can just go elsewhere but i have to logically think about the future and even if i sneak in a couple times im sure it will only be a matter of time before i can no longer use my beloved superjet.
Has anyone else transitioned to other "Legal" skis in California? what did you go to? has anyone been up to millerton recently with a 2-stroke?
a little background, ive been riding since i was young maybe 7-8ish as our first ski was a Kawasaki TS, then we transitioned to the Yamaha VXR, SuperJet and then Wave Venture before my family sold all of the skis for a boat except save for my superjet. honestly with the waveventure i was getting a bit tired of jetskis, at least sit down style, it was getting boring and too stable, something about the unstability and FUN of a VXR or a seadoo XP/SP, or even that nifty quick trim on my brothers 1100Zxi and Wave Raider that i loved and enjoyed tossing around, but the wave venture ushered in this whole "stable" road cruiser like feel that was honestly just a bit boring, todays new pwc's just seem like huge hogs with unnecessary engines and speeds, who needs a engine the size of a car when its just speed regulated? really we were hitting 60-70 on a 770 triple, why the hell do you need a 1400+cc turbocharged engine? its like the engineers never hit the water going 60+ and realized that when you fall its like skimming across concrete with every wave like someone punching you in the ribs or gut.
So, stand-ups in california are out, stand up/sit-down combos are out (ala X-2, wave blaster), whats my options? sea-doo spark and a crate of Armour all? oor 10-20k on basically some oversized overpowered baby boat?
