When was the last time you torqued your head bolts?

I just checked mine and the girdle bolts had definitely loosened off quite a bit. Can't remember the last time I checked, but I'll be doing it more often from now on....

I always heard you need to check them periodically. Should not matter if they were torqued enough the first time. Just part of normal Preventive Maintenance.

That's what I was thinking - I realized it had been a while since I checked them, and was surprised at how much they'd moved. Figured I'd remind everyone to go and do the same.

I've heard a couple times that the ADA girtle bolts are under-rated in the torque setting they recommend, and it should be more to prevent loosening.

Yes - I crank mine to 30 lb ft.

11 then 26 ft*lb
